Uzbekistan will take on the South Koreans in a battle for pride as they battle it out in the Asian Cup third place play off on Friday 28th January 2011. Uzbekistan vs South Korea Asian Football Cup Complete Matches.
Pride is something that was severely dented for the Uzbekistan side after they were humiliated in a six goal thrashing at the hands of Australia. The game will still be fresh in their mind as they go in to the meeting with South Korea but manager Vadim Abramov will have to find some way of dragging a performance out of his players. They will though have to do so without the aid of influential striker Ulugbek Bakayev who was sent off in the semi final.
South Korea though still have their pride intact after taking Japan all the way only to be thwarted by an outstanding performance from the Japanese Keeper. Ji Sung Park was a major threat all the way through the game for the Korean side and should be a major player if they are to go home with third place on Friday. The Manchester United player won a penalty for the Koreans and Hwang Jae Won will have secured his place in the line up after keeping his side in it right to the end with a last minute of extra time equaliser.
