The reports are suggesting that Inter are encouraging Manchester United and Chelsea to enter a bidding war for Wesley Sneijder’s services in January.
Inter will be looking for a fee of at least £30 million for the Dutchman who arrived from Real Madrid in 2009 and became a pivotal member of the Champions League winning team of 2010.
Manchester United made a serious move for Sneijder during the summer which ended after the players personal demands left manager Sir Alex Ferguson unimpressed.
However the United boss could be tempted to move for the playmaker as they still don’t have a player who can fill in the hole left by the departure of the red devils legend Paul Scholes.
Sportmediaset report the cash-strapped Milan giants need to sell Sneijder to kick start the plans of overhauling their ever ageing squad, and plan to use the funds to add a new midfielder and centre-half to Claudio Ranieri’s team in January.
Chelsea will also be offered the Dutchman, having been linked with him in the final weeks of the summer market. With Roman Abramovich giving up on signing Tottenham’s Luka Modric and Frank Lampard on the wrong side of 30 a move for Sneijder is more than a possibility.[football.co.uk]
